How cr1 Started
District 69, District 67, and District 219 have entered into a historic agreement to make sure that all elementary students will be college and career ready. This partnership ensures that all District 69 and District 67 families will have a consistent, family-friendly school experience from the time a child enters Kindergarten to the day she graduates high school.
The high school and elementary districts will work together closely to make sure that every student has learned key, specific academic concepts at the appropriate grade level before moving on to the next grade. Teachers will help students and their parents monitor their individual progress so they know if they are on track to succeed. If not, their teachers will implement specific interventions to help the students achieve the targeted outcomes.
Classrooms First is a pilot project that is meant to develop curricular initiatives and best practice methods that can be implemented by other sender school elementary districts in Niles Township.
The districts will focus on the K-12 core curriculum of Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM), and Literacy. D219 has created three positions: an Executive Director of K-12 STEM and Literacy, a Director of K-12 Mathematics, and Director of K – 8 Literacy . These curriculum leaders will work with District 69 and District 67 to align curriculum and instruction to the Common Core State Standards and Next Generation Science Standards.
